In the past, eloping meant you had run off to the courthouse with your significant other and gotten married, usually in secret. Nowadays, elopements have evolved into creating an intentional and authentic wedding day that celebrates your love with the opportunity of including 15 close family and friends in a beautiful outdoor location.
An intimate wedding essentially the same as an elopement but it allows you to invite more than 15 people. Both take place in a stunning outdoor location of your choosing, but intimate weddings can be held at a more traditional wedding venue or in a more untraditional setting like a campsite, backyard, seaside cottage, etc.
Since elopements have a smaller number of attendees compared to intimate weddings, they allow for more flexibility and mobility. For example, you could have your elopement ceremony on top of Beech Mountain or Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park which provide breathtaking views but are restricted to a small number of guests and require hiking a short distance or parking reservations.
Not sure which option would be right for you? No worries! Send me a message with your ideas and we can create a customized package that works best for your needs.
Eloping offers the freedom to craft a day that’s truly reflective of what matters most to you. It’s an opportunity to dream together about your perfect day—one centered around the activities, places, and moments that make you happiest. Whether you want to include loved ones or keep it intimate with just the two of you, the key is to create an experience where you both feel at peace and connected. What are the places that make you feel most alive? What moments would make your day feel truly yours?
For many couples, focusing their day around an outdoor adventure or doing activities they love is key. This could be anything from a sunrise hike, to canoeing on a favorite lake, cycling through the forest, or even just a peaceful walk. To me, adventure is about quality time in nature—however that looks for you!
But if that feels a little too intimidating, don't be alarmed! If a more relaxed day feels right let's start your morning with a cozy picnic by the ocean, then getting ready together in your seaside Airbnb in fun wedding attire. We then head to Portland City Hall for a simple ceremony, followed by a celebratory dinner with family, or just enjoy a laid-back evening with drinks, take-out pizza, and dancing on the boardwalk.
As your photographer, my role is to be a storyteller, not a director. I want to capture your day as it unfolds naturally, not orchestrate every moment for the sake of the "perfect" shot. I’m here to authentically document your love, artfully framing and angling the camera to translate your emotions into images you can FEEL.
As mentioned above, the sky is the limit when it comes to what activities or traditions you do or don’t want to include on your wedding day. Common traditions are a first look where you see each other’s wedding attire for the first time, a ceremony where you say your vows and exchange rings, some time for portraits, and a reception slash celebration.
Making your wedding or elopement day memorable, exciting, and most importantly, you is what will ultimately reflect back in your final gallery. Activity ideas can range from hiking, horseback riding (please!), paddle boarding or kayaking, yoga, making art in nature together, skiing or snowboarding, rock climbing, biking, camping or renting a van, swimming in the ocean, watching the sunrise or sunset, peeping the leafs in autumn, exploring waterfalls or even taking a helicopter ride, and endless other ideas! Whatever you envision, I’ll work with you to curate and create a unique experience just for you.
